Information You Submit
Terms Entered in Search Tools
When a name, location, or other term is entered into a search box operated by a third party, the entry passes to that provider so it can process the query. Summit County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's privacy terms apply to its handling of the query.
Emails and Other Messages
If you email us or send a message through an available contact method, we retain the information needed to read the request and reply. We do not disclose the message outside our organization unless a valid legal requirement compels disclosure.
Information Collected Automatically
Basic technical and usage details may be recorded when a browser loads a page. These records help operate the site, measure use, and diagnose problems. They may include:
- The internet protocol address assigned to the connection.
- The browser name and version.
- The device category and operating system.
- The pages viewed and time spent on them.
- The referring website, when one is supplied.
- The date and time of a visit or request.
Cookie Settings
Cookies and similar browser storage may help show how visitors move through the site. You may block or remove cookies through browser controls. Some functions can respond differently or lose settings when cookies are disabled.
Reasons We Use Data
Collected information supports ordinary site operations and service improvement. We may use it to:
- Keep pages available, stable, and responsive.
- Send a requested search to the correct partner service.
- Understand which Summit County release resources visitors use.
- Detect broken pages, misuse, and technical faults.
- Display advertising that may reflect general interests.
Government and Outside Links
The site links to Summit County release records, Sheriff and UDC pages, court and federal portals, and outside search services. County records requested under Utah's Government Records Access and Management Act are handled by the public entity, not by this site. Once you follow any outside link, that operator's privacy notice and data practices control.
Advertising companies may use their own technology to recognize activity across websites and select ads. That tracking occurs on their systems under their terms, not as a release-record function operated by Summit County Released Inmates.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited information may still be processed or disclosed to these categories of recipients when needed:
- Search partners that receive and process a submitted query.
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance.
- Advertising networks that deliver or assess ads.
- Law enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid subpoena, court order, or other legal demand.
Security Has Practical Limits
We use reasonable, commonly accepted steps to protect information from unauthorized access or misuse. No website, network, or storage method is fully secure. We therefore cannot promise that an incident, interception, loss, or unauthorized disclosure will never occur.
Use by People Under 18
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly seek or collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor sent personal data may use the Contact Us page to request its deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the limits of what we hold, you may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal data associated with you.
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate.
- Delete personal data we are not required to retain.
- Stop certain processing where an opt-out right applies.
Changes to This Notice
We may revise this privacy notice as services, technology, or legal duties change. An updated version takes effect when posted here, and a new effective date will identify the current version.
