Summit County VINE Coverage
VINELink provides a specific-person custody search and notification registration. The interface starts with a jurisdiction, then presents name or identification searches and agency choices. Its returned status reflects the latest information supplied by the participating source. It is an event and notice service, not a certified release record or complete archive.
Utah Department of Corrections expressly documents its own UDC VINE Service. That coverage includes people in state custody and events tied to UDC movement, parole, or prison release. Research did not establish a public facility-by-facility certification that every ordinary Summit County pretrial or local jail booking enters the same feed. Select the live Utah service, look for the relevant county agency or population, and ask Summit County Jail if local coverage is unclear.
The service is free and available throughout the year. UDC says its touch-tone line at 1-877-884-8463 can search by inmate name or offender number, report custody and whether a release date exists, and accept anonymous registration. Live English and Spanish operators are available. The web interface may offer phone, email, text, or other channels as displayed.
Search a Summit County Inmate
Begin with enough detail to distinguish one person from anyone with a similar name. An agency or offender number is stronger than a name alone. Compare the record's facility and custody wording before registering. If the person began in Summit County Jail but later entered UDC custody, the state record may become the relevant notification source.

- Choose the custody agency or system presented for the Summit County or UDC population.
- Enter the full legal name or agency ID. Use the offender number when one is known.
- Compare identity, facility, and status details across all plausible matches.
- Open only the selected person's record and read the current status in the interface's own terms.
“Not in custody,” “released,” and “transferred” are not automatic synonyms. A closed county-jail record may be followed by UDC, another jail, federal, or immigration custody. If a name search returns nothing, check spelling and identifiers, confirm that the right agency was selected, and contact the agency rather than treating no result as proof.

The live interface may vary by agency and record. Treat the displayed labels as the source, and do not promise fields that are absent. The researched VINE workflow uses jurisdiction and name or ID inputs, then shows selected-person custody or status information and notification options. UDC's telephone service can also state whether a release date exists.

VINELink does not replace Summit County's jail custody history. For written proof of a local release timestamp and disposition, seek the jail's booking/release record. For a state prisoner or parolee, compare VINE with UDC's Location, Housing Facility, Release Date/Type, and case-manager fields.
The exact UDC public label is “Release Date/Type,” not “Projected Release Date.” A future value can be an important lead, but it is not a guaranteed departure. Board action, earned time, rescission, a violation, another case, or a hold may change the path. Match the VINE event to the current UDC detail and latest Board decision before relying on the date.
Register Summit County Release Alerts
Registration must occur on the correct person's record. Select the custody-change or release event actually offered. The contact channel and confirmation step can differ. UDC says multiple phone numbers may use a shared PIN, while the live web screen controls the current phone, email, text, or other options.
- Open the verified person's record and choose “Get notified” or the equivalent option shown.
- Select the offered event. Read whether it concerns release, transfer, parole timing, or another custody change.
- Choose a displayed contact method and enter the destination accurately.
- Create or enter a PIN when the telephone process asks for one, then complete the confirmation step.
- Save the registration receipt and keep the PIN private. Return to the record if contact information changes.
UDC describes anonymous registration. Its system sends one email for an applicable event or calls every hour for up to 48 hours until the telephone notice is acknowledged with the correct PIN. If nobody answers, a message may be left and another call can follow within two hours. These are the documented UDC procedures, not a promise about every Summit County agency feed or every channel.

Utah VINE Movement Is Not Release
Utah's state event list offers unusual detail. UDC VINE can report release from prison, escape, return after escape, death, and a parole-release-date alert 30 days ahead. It can also report moves into a county jail, between the Salt Lake City and Gunnison prison sites, or into a community correctional center. Those movement categories help trace custody without overstating what happened.
A move to a county jail is a transfer. A move to a community correctional center remains a distinct placement event. A parole-release-date notice is advance information, while release from prison is a completed custody event. Read the wording and date together. Later Board action, rescission, violation, or a separate hold can change the path before the person enters the community.

A contracted UDC prisoner can be physically held at Summit County Jail. If that person leaves the county building, VINE may describe movement within the state system. UDC says almost all state prisoners held in contract county jails return to the Utah State Correctional Facility before community release. Do not apply that state-prison process to an ordinary local detainee leaving after bond or a county court order.
Confirm Summit County VINE Notices
Coverage and timing can fail. The Utah Board has warned during technical problems that VINE notices may be inaccurate or missing. For a county event, call Summit County Jail at 435-615-3723. For state parole status, compare the UDC offender search with the most recent Board hearing or decision and call the Board at 801-261-6464 when direct confirmation is needed.
A local jail release record and a VINE event answer different questions. The VINE notice can be fast and useful. The jail record can document the physical release time and disposition. A court docket may show the order that led to release, yet it does not always prove when jail processing ended. Two-source agreement is strongest.
The UDC offender search is limited to people currently under Corrections supervision. It can include parolees and sometimes probationers. A complete discharge may lead to no result, so a Board decision, court record, or directed UDC records request can preserve the older trail. Summit County VINE Jurisdiction Limits
VINELink is not the federal Bureau of Prisons locator. A Summit County arrest can lead to federal movement, but BOP must be searched by its own name or number fields. “Released” or “Not in BOP custody” resolves only federal prison custody; state, local, immigration custody, or federal supervision may follow.
ICE also maintains a separate detainee locator. A county departure to ICE is transfer, not community release. A later ICE result has its own meaning and time limits. USMS pretrial custody may not yet appear in BOP, so the responsible federal district, facility, docket, or narrow records route may be needed.

Keeping these populations separate prevents a closed local record from being called a community release when the person merely moved downstream.
Registries are separate as well. Utah's sex and kidnap offender registry covers only people with a statutory registration duty. It is not a VINE substitute or a general record of Summit County releases. A person may have left jail without appearing there, and a registrant may remain listed after physical custody ends because registration and custody are different legal statuses.
